Commands of the Apostles – Part 41

07/29/23 Video Broadcast

This study addresses the following questions:

  1. When Scripture says, “no temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man,” is it talking only about temptations to sin, or could it also be speaking of trials in general?
  2. Does Scripture really say that you won’t be tempted or tested beyond what you are able to bear?
  3. What is the “way of escape” spoken of that enables one to bear it?
  4. What is the great danger of turning to other forms of escape?
  5. How can we transition over into letting spiritual things be our way of escape rather than earthly things?
  6. What role does Scripture play in giving us a way of escape?
  7. What are the origins of Christmas and Easter?
  8. Where in the New Testament can we find a warning against these observances?
  9. Can Christmas and Easter be so wrong if they bring the family together?
  10. Is it possible to sanitize pagan symbols and observances so that they honor the Messiah?
  11. If we sanitize pagan symbols so that they point to the Messiah, is this really a victory?
  12. What is the common thread between the observances of Christmas/Easter, and turning to the wrong ways of escape when faced with temptations/trials?
