Everyone is familiar with the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31.
She is the ideal woman-type who is well-rounded in character, personality, and productivity.
I often think what the Proverbs 31 Woman would be in modern times.
Her candle – though maybe no longer a candle – doesn’t go out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Would she be on her cell phone, but would she even have one?
Would she be up late on her laptop? How would she connect with the digital world?
Looking at what we take for granted, what would she think of electricity and running water? Indoor plumbing?
Up late at night, she works tirelessly, likely by a candle or lamp.
I wonder, would she take in a movie or two?
Would social media be on her schedule?
I suppose it depends on what her goals are to the extent of her technology use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I read over her character traits, I see a strong woman.
She is someone who is not afraid of plowing forward.
Basically, she puts her talents and strengths to good use.
She may even work on her weaknesses, for they are strengths that have been overused.
Moreover, she makes decisions and delegates, yet she also works with her own hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I suppose it depends on what her goals are to the extent of her use of technology.
I know some virtuous women who work with their hands and the digital life is scarce.
Yet, I also know of women who work late into the night, fully engaged in their technology, not for self-pleasure, but to reach out to the lonely across the lands.
Yes, there are those women who only have the Internet as their connection with other believers.
Both kinds of women are virtuous, not because of what they produce in their lives, but because of their heart.
A woman who fears Yahweh will also make good use of her time, investing it wisely into the kingdom.
That’s the kind of woman I desire to be. A virtuous woman.
