{"id":3124,"date":"2024-11-10T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-10T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eliyah.com\/light\/?p=3124"},"modified":"2024-11-07T17:03:33","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T17:03:33","slug":"daily-menu-humble-pie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eliyah.com\/light\/2024\/11\/10\/daily-menu-humble-pie\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Menu: Humble Pie"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Book of Proverbs has always been my go-to for correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I can&#8217;t say that I was looking intentionally for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More like, it jumped out at me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when you feel like you&#8217;re constantly being corrected for sometime, there is a proverb that assures you that it&#8217;s part of daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Proverbs 6:23)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Double ouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not very comforting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not very comforting at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exemption Expected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Seriously, I thought reproofs and correction would stop (or at least slow down considerably) when I became an adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boy! Was I wrong!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seemed to intensify instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it&#8217;s not that I intentionally go out and do something wrong or purposely err.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s usually a mistake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A small one, at least to me, or it&#8217;s a misunderstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m almost 50 and humble pie is still on my daily menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admitting wrongs and bad mistakes is hard enough, but the humbling part is awful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s better if I don&#8217;t talk, do or be anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Reality Of Things<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, living the hermit life looks really good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know. I know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read the verse again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everybody gets corrected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I just see my own correction magnified a thousand times and it blocks out everyone else&#8217;s &#8230; at least to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, and I&#8217;m not perfect.<br>I just want to get through the day without being corrected or reproved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is that not a good idea?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Spirit witnesses no, not a good idea at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pride.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So a slice of humble pie a day should keep the proud spirit away, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><br><br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Book of Proverbs has always been my go-to for correction.
