{"id":3140,"date":"2024-11-14T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eliyah.com\/light\/?p=3140"},"modified":"2024-11-07T17:24:04","modified_gmt":"2024-11-07T17:24:04","slug":"humility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eliyah.com\/light\/2024\/11\/14\/humility\/","title":{"rendered":"Humility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Humility is only hard for the proud.<br><br>How many of us are proud?<br><br>Likely too many.<br><br>Humility has a way of serving and acting without drawing attention to itself.<br><br>\u201cLook what I did!\u201d<br><br>\u201cSee how I did it!\u201d<br><br>While that\u2019s fine for a few things, when it becomes a chronic \u2013 or consistent \u2013 habit, it also becomes a serious issue of either trying to build self-worth through accomplishments or a case of pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exemptions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no exemptions.<br><br>We all have this challenge.<br><br>One way or the other.<br><br>We all fight pride.<br><br>We all avoid having to brow beat ourselves.<br><br>It\u2019s too depressing.<br><br>Who wants to get down on themselves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scriptural View<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHumble\u201d (KJV) first shows up with Moses and Aaron confronting Pharaoh.<br><br>Now, I\u2019m sure we can all agree that Pharaoh had a problem with pride.<br><br>Big problem.<br><br>He refused to be humble.<br><br>In Hebrew, he refused to look down\u2026or browbeat (Strong\u2019s H6031).<br><br>Pride carries a high look.<br><br>Humility doesn\u2019t.<br><br>And Proverbs 16:19 exemplifies another contrast of the proud and the humble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Proverbs 16:19, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Here is another proverb\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A man&#8217;s pride shall bring him low: honor shall uphold the humble is spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Prov. 29:23, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Yahshua&#8217;s Input<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yahshua pointed out that humility is like being a child, to humble oneself as a little child (Matt. 18:4).<br><br>He also noted that\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Matt. 23:12, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Wow.<br><br>If we lift ourselves up, we\u2019ll get kicked off our high horse.<br><br>Yet, if we humble ourselves, we\u2019ll be lifted up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Mentions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>James also expands on Yahshua\u2019s words.<br><br>Twice (James 4:6, 10).<br><br>The humble receive grace from Elohim.<br><br>The proud do not.<br><br>They get resistance.<br><br>James encourages us to be humble before Yahweh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Humble yourselves in the sight of Yahweh, and he shall lift you up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(James 4:10, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And Peter uses similar words too.<br><br>Have you read 1 Peter 5:5-6?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Humble yourselves therefore under the might hand of Elohim, that he may exalt you in due time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1 Peter 5:6, KJV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Humility is the better choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Something To Think About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Humble? Humility?<br><br>So what does that mean?<br><br>Do we go around with cutting ourselves down?<br><br>Should we have a low self-esteem?<br><br>Do we remain silent about everything?<br><br>\u2026<br><br>I think we have humility all wrong.<br><br>It isn\u2019t about cutting ourselves down to size.<br><br>It\u2019s more about this\u2026<br><br>Instead of thinking less of yourself\u2026<br><br>\u2026think of yourself less often.<br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Humility is only hard for the proud.
