I couldn’t help but smile as I felt the smooth pages between my fingers…
Being a part of a team has its fair share of joys and challenges. When you have a handful of women with different personalities and perspectives, you invite a plethora of possibilities into your life.
I remember the ups and downs that my team and I shared last year, all those times when life would seem to crush us and stop us from making progress. As I reflect on how we chose to approach each and every situation, I am thankful that we decided to be Messiah-like to each other. Support and empowering one another, miles apart, but together in spirit. Compassion, mercy, and understanding filled our attitudes and conversations.
Life happens. Struggles are inevitable. The one goal of our team was more than to put together a magazine for women pursuing Torah; it was also to build a sisterhood, even if it started among ourselves. Between the five of us, we connected. We bonded. Sisterhood became a reality. It was hard to endure the trials and challenges, but knowing that none of us were alone made it easier to shoulder. Sisters who stopped to pray and call on Yahweh for answers, we cultivated this skill often. We couldn’t hug and cry with each other, but we could text and call. Miles apart, but yet so close together. Imagine having someone drop everything to take a moment to help you through the anguish.
I could say it was bliss, but it wasn’t. Never in the present moment, do you stop and think, Wow, I really feel this is a good thing. It’s more like, Yahweh, we need You because none of us can do this. In hindsight is where I could say it’s bliss; it’s a blessing to have sisters who offer to help carry each other’s load, even if it’s working towards putting together a magazine.
The glossy pages solidified a moment in my life. It’s for real. I am really holding the DOL magazine in my hands. I wasn’t really guaranteed that I would get the shipment today, though I requested it. Preparation Day can be harried at times. The digital upload for A Light In The Darkness will be done tomorrow at 3 pm EST. Next week we hope to begin mailing them out.
A Light In The Darkness started with one team member’s idea. We built into it and quickly it outgrew from a newsletter (4-8 pages) to a magazine (40+pages). I’m thankful for the team member who prompted the idea. I’m grateful for our team who put in their everything to make it happen. Volume 1 is the product of contributors, team members, and editors who put their all into it. Volume 2 includes all that plus more.

Interested in subscribing? It’s free. Fill out the form below. A Light In The Darkness is also available at True Brew and Bread Of Life Thrift And Grocery, Ava, MO.
