I am co-ordinating “Sisters Helping Sisters” this year for Sukkot 2024. Yahweh has laid this program very heavy on my heart, and these are my ideas for the program.
In lieu, of forming a close knit sisterhood, I think this is extremely important. I would like to be able to provide a network of sisters who would be able to volunteer, during Sukkot, to help feed, to help with transportation to the grocery store, laundromat, etc.
This could be for a single sister, single mom, or maybe even a family. We never know where the needs will be. If a sister, or family, came in on a plane, train, bus, etc. they may not have access to pots and pans to cook, or if it is a single sister or single mom, she may not have knowledge of cooking on a fire, etc. The scenarios are endless.
It breaks my heart to think that there might be someone that will be doing without simply because of this. Sukkot is supposed to be a time of coming together and celebrating, as one.
Every year, we have newcomers to Sukkot, whether they are new to Torah, new to camping, new to Sukkot or all of the above. I feel that it would be very helpful for there to be a network of sisters (formed on a list) that can agree to help in one or more categories:
Food: Transportation to the grocery store
Food: Sharing a meal with a sister/family
Laundry: Transportation to the laundromat
Every member of the Daughters of the Light council will have access to the list of volunteers, which will include the names and campsite/cabin numbers of all that have volunteered, so that anyone of them will be able to help out. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out the form below and your information will be sent directly to me.
