Recap
We know that the best strategy in life is understanding. Whoa. Sounds simple, but there’s more involved…of course.
Understanding includes looking at the “alleged” opponent, that is, it involves observation. Observation includes watching with the intent to understand. When we watch, we take notes, put together a story with a discourse and then utilize the new information in our response.
It takes time to do this, to really understand with the intention to serve others in Yahushua’s love.
True Intentions
This is where we have to be careful because the intent of this understanding is to become more Messiah-like towards others. As we observe with the intent to understand, we can take our new knowledge and use it for the best interests of others’ – walking in Torah – and walk in the image of Yahushua.
To really make this second nature, I have learned to start with myself and then apply this to those closest to me. Slowly, I work my way outwards, from myself to my family to my friends, co-volunteers, neighbors, and out to complete strangers. I have learned some essential Messiah-like skills like mercy, gentleness, diplomacy, and more. Every time I meet someone, I have the opportunity to develop my skill set with understanding.
Skill Set
It takes time, but it’s one of those skills that you build on. Once you understand yourself, you find it easier to understand family members. Then, by the time you are understanding friends, you find it easier with acquaintances and strangers. This understanding, of course, is looking to serve and take into consideration; it is looking out for the best interests of others, as well as our own. It also sets the environment to develop several Messiah-like characters. Some of those are gentleness, kindness, servant’s heart, etc.
I challenge you to practice it, starting with yourself. It may sound redundant, but when you start to observe yourself and understanding the why of what you do, there comes a whole new level of awareness and appreciation for Yahweh created you – unique!
