Have you ever noticed that when you set out to do something, you have all sorts of distractions? Maybe it feels like nothing is working your way?
I have.
That unseen resistance seems to get in gear whenever I set out to do a task of significant importance. This could be something simple like sorting out clothes in the back corner of the thrift store, or posting – yes, this very post.
My day was going fine yesterday. I had lots to do and more when I got to the thrift store. Everything seemed to go smoothly, until I mentioned my plans to a fellow team mate. She had plans too. Mine never got completed.
The morning was getting away quickly on my to-do list and by noon, the store had to be open for business. I had plan to post on the website in the evening, as well as work on adding some pages. Out of all days for the Internet to go down, it had to be yesterday.
Someone was digging up the road and cut into the fiber optics that support our service. Great (grimace). Even though that happened in the late morning, it lingered well into the night. I dropped into bed shortly before midnight and still, no service.
Arrrgh.
I would have to push it to the next morning (here we are!) and evening.
Not to be outdone by circumstances beyond my control, I focused on other things that also needed to get done. Knowing that setbacks are meant to empower us helped me get through the day. Yahweh’s got this, and I’ll focus on other tasks that also need to get done.
I’m still pushing – and moving – forward, regardless, and pushing against that unseen resistance.
