When life is falling apart around me, it’s so easy to complain and feel sorry for myself.
It’s easier to gripe and resent than to praise Yahweh and look for the blessings.
Who wants to do that???
And why?
Well, there is a method, really a cycle.
We know it as sowing and reaping.
If I sow complaints and gripes, more than likely I am going to reap a lot of negative results in my life.
It’s just a fact of life.
Doing Something Different
On the other hand, if I sow praise and look for the blessings, I will reap that in my life.
And the catch is that I praise and look for the blessings regardless if life is good or just plain problematic.
And sometimes it feels mostly problematic.
One challenge after another.
One upset after another.
No one seems happy.
No one seems to care that my life is affected by their choices.
And maybe I don’t care either.
Surpassing the Flesh
It’s hard to step out of that doom and gloom setting and start praising Yahweh.
My heart isn’t in it.
I don’t feel like it.
But it is a command.
King David said he praised Yahweh seven times a day.
I’m doing really well with just once or twice, and that’s on a good day.
I better pull up my socks and do better than that.
(Sigh.)
(Still pausing.)
(5 minutes later.)
I guess I better start praising Yahweh.
“Praise Yahweh for life. Thank You Father for today.”
…
One thing is for sure, if my heart isn’t in it, it isn’t going to work.
What is my problem?
I’m waiting for my circumstances to change so I can be happy.
However, Scripture says that I have to choose to be joyful first.
Huh?!
You’ve got to be kidding me!
I have to make the first move?!
…
The joy of Yahweh is my strength.
Start Anywhere
And it’s true.
When I start looking for the little things to praise Him, there starts a small but growing awe for His amazing work.
I have had to start with praising Yahweh for my body and its abilities.
Somewhere.
Anywhere.
Start somewhere and thank Him.
Praise Him.
It’s powerful.
When I took the first step to praise Yahweh, I saw a change in myself.
I wasn’t so self-centered.
Self-absorbed.
Selfish.
I began to see life around me differently.
I noticed the blessings that Yahweh gave me every day.
Without complaining to me.
Without griping about how I don’t do my part.
He freely shares and blesses.
I praise Yahweh for His lovingkindness.
I praise Yahweh for He daily loads me with benefits.
I praise Yahweh for His protection over my life.
Yes, praise is powerful.
It’s powerful enough to jolt me out of myself and into seeking ways to praise Yahweh more.
