Being Clothed with Humility
02/23/19 (12/17) Video Broadcast
Ready to get started on a new topic here. An important topic for us to look at here. The importance of us
BEING CLOTHED WITH HUMILITY. – Clothed with Humility. You know we can’t even get to step one of entering into a relationship with our Father in Heaven unless we first come to Him with humility. We may not fully understand and embrace the good news of what our Savior has done for us, unless we first understand the bad news-the bad news is-we’re a mess!
We need a Savior-we need someone to come and redeem us and pull us out of the pit. And we have to understand step one-humble yourself before Yahweh-the Most-High. Humble yourself
Scripture says-younger people in particular, he says: Submit yourselves to your elders-why does he say that? - because elders are in authority. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, - I like that-we’re putting on humility like we put on a garment-being clothed with humility-humility is the opposite of pride and arrogance, and narcissism-it says-for “Elohim resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of Elohim, - Elohim being the Hebrew word translated “God”- that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Too many people are putting all their care and concern about what other people think of them, and so they’re not clothed with humility-they’re seeking to make a name for themselves-they’re seeking to exalt themselves. And therefore, they are walking in pride. And some people, down deep
inside, they feel inadequate. Down deep inside, they really know in their heart, in their mind, they don’t measure up. And so, they seek to cover that with a shell of pride and arrogance, and self-lifting up comments-things that are braggadocious kind of bragging on yourself-talking about yourself-your life is all about yourself and how great you are. And they’re covering that with a sense of pride and arrogance. Just because someone is prideful, I mean their exhibiting the attributes of pride, but down deep they’re trying to cover how they feel inside, which is-they don’t measure up, they’re not good enough. So, we are called to a place of complete utter humility, particularly when it comes to our relationship with our Heavenly Father, and let Him at that point tell us who we are-lift us up, and give us a place
on the throne next to our Savior Yahushua when He returns. So, He will exalt us, it says in due time. But now at this moment, in our walk, is a time of humility. It’s a time of recognizing, number one, we don’t deserve anything. I should say-we do deserve something-
we deserve the Lake of Fire-that’s what we deserve. No matter who you are, we have all fallen short of the grace of Yahweh, and we all deserve the Lake of Fire. And so, like I said last week-be content-because you know what? – if all He ever did was save us from that-save us from the judgment we deserve, then that should be enough. Now, pride is actually the root of a lot of sins-sometimes there’s sins underneath the pride, but sometimes we don’t want to listen to Yahweh-we don’t want to change-we don’t want to do something that may look on the world to be kind of weird or strange or bizarre. Because we have this pride, we’re trying to exhibit a certain persona or certain identity, and therefore, we don’t wanna give up what we’ve identified ourselves as, so we are not willing to hear certain parts of the Word. We’re like - “I don’t wanna see that-I don’t wanna hear that-that’s too painful for me to consider right now-doing this part of what the scripture’s telling me to do”. But we need to understand, when we become believers, we have given up our identity-whatever we were before-we’ve given it up. And now, we’ve taken on a new identity, and that is the Messiah Yahushua living in us. And so, we have to take on the identity of our savior. We cannot look at Yahweh’s Word and say – “We’re gonna pick out which ones we want to do-which things we wanna apply”. We have to look at Yahweh’s Word and say – “You know what? It’s not really worth it just to ignore that part of the Word, and think I’m still gonna make it. I need to live a repentant lifestyle and call myself a repentant believer-when I see something in the Word that I need to change, I need to be willing in my heart to do it. I have shared some things from the Word with people that people could not refute, and they recognized things that I said was true from the scriptures, but they said – “I’m not gonna change my life over them”. Even though they were claiming to be believers, they were not willing to change their life over It, and they were not willing-they were too embarrassed to walk out the life that scripture tells us to walk out. So, our Heavenly Father is looking down from Heaven, and He’s saying: “Who will be faithful to me? Who will put me ahead of the opinions of men? Who will lay down their own pride and put on the garments of humility?” You know in denominationalism, the danger of it is-they claim they have all the truth. I know a guy who went through seminary, Bible college, and at the end, they said to him – “There you go-you’ve learned everything there is to know about the Bible”. Wow! They thought they had it all. So, the different denominations-they have this idea-when you come to us, we have all the truth, and so you want to join our church-you want to join our congregation because we have the truth, and other people they don’t have the truth. And they all make that claim. The claim that I make is-I’m trying to walk out whatever truth it is that I think I’ve found, and if you think I’m wrong, please show me-if you think I’m in error, please let me know. That’s what I wanna do, and that’s what we need to do. Because it’s not about me. It’s not about which teacher wins the Internet; it’s not about that-it’s about-hey-let’s all seek the truth together, and let’s try to apply the things that we learn. Even if makes us look strange or bizarre or whatever. Let’s walk this out. I say-forget all the denominations-forget the organizations of man, whatever they’re doing-if they found some truth-great. But maybe there’s more truth. I’ve yet to discover that I have come to a place where I’ve arrived. I have not arrived-I have not come to a place where I feel like I’ve found all the truth. Even if I think I’ve found some things that are true, maybe there’s some things about me in my own heart that Yahweh still has to reveal-I think, you know, maybe this area of my heart is okay, and then later on, He shows me-no it’s not. And so, our life in Messiah is an ongoing-ongoing journey-seeking the truth in His Word, and seeking the truth about our own selves, and making the adjustments we need to make by His grace to make the changes we need to make to line ourselves up-our conduct, our behavior, our mindset with His Word. You know pride is very elusive; it’s very hidden-it’s almost everywhere man is. I mean man-I wanna start off by saying, you know-the minute I think I’ve got this pride thing kicked, Yahweh shows me something else. Because pride is so elusive-why? - because pride itself, keeps one from admitting you have pride. We’re too prideful to admit we’re prideful because that would involve humility. But you know, we have to be humble-we have to. So, let’s look at the scriptures. Scripture says-
If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth. Have you ever seen a child, you know-someone’s in trouble and they go - “Ah, you’re in trouble”. Alright, guess, what? You’re in trouble. If you’ve been foolish in exalting yourself, you are in trouble. Put your hand over your mouth and say – “Man, that was dumb, I should not have done that.” If you’ve been foolish-so, there’s a danger here. We do not want to exalt ourselves-we want to exalt Yahweh. Scripture says in Luke 12-
I’m sorry-First Corinthians 5:6: Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore, purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. – leavening is yeast-one thing you know about yeast is it’s everywhere, and yeast, when it goes into a pile of dough-it causes the dough to puff up, right? And so, leaven puffs up, and likewise glorying and pride puffs up, and we have to be humble people-people recognizing the greatness of Elohim, and our insignificance in comparison to Him. And at the same time, not go completely on the other side of it and say – “Yahweh hates me. I’m not worthy of His love. I’m not worthy. Well, the truth is
He created us, and by the fact that He created us automatically gives us worth-automatically gives us value, and the fact that He created us in His own image-those are just inherent truths, and we have reason to be thankful for them. Because Yahweh, Himself, chose to create us in His image, and that’s an honor in and of itself. But the problem is-we have not loved as He loves-we have not conducted ourselves according to the way He would have us conduct ourselves-as image bearers of Yahweh. And so, we have to humble ourselves and say – “You know what? – I’m not yet that perfect image of my Father in Heaven”. And that humility will open the door and allow us to receive truth-allow us to make changes in our life, but we have to put on the garments of humility. When Yahushua came on the earth, there were some men who were humble, and there were some men who were prideful. The disciples-they took a very different attitude than the Pharisees and scribes. Pharisees and scribes were basically people involved in denominations; they thought they had the answers. And so, when someone came along to correct them, they were reluctant to acknowledge, and they got so bad with the pride that they would pray openly just so everybody would look at them and say – “Oh man-that man’s a really devout believer”. And Yahushua said
to His disciples in Luke chapter 12: In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled on one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy – Hypocrisy means you’re pretending to be like someone you’re not. You’re trying to get the glory of being a certain person, and really that’s not who you are. He said: “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be made known. “Therefore, whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that they have no more that they can do. “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Everyone’s focused on what the
opinions of men are, and what so and so says about you, and what so and so says about somebody else. But we need to be concerned about what our Heavenly Father says and how He sees us,
and not how man sees us. Matthew 23-I’m sorry Mark chapter 8 verse 38 says: “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” So, we cannot be ashamed of Him-we cannot be too ashamed to proclaim Him. We must be willing to boldly come out there and say – “Yes, I’m a believer and I’m not ashamed of it-I rejoice in it.” Now,
there are some people who-they’re dealing with major areas of rejection; they have been rejected all their lives or felt rejected all their lives. Maybe they had a condemning parent-unloving parent, unloving siblings, unloving people in their life, and so they’re always uptight about what other people say. Because they don’t have a secure identity of who they really are, and they’re not comfortable around people unless they feel like they need to put themselves forward so other people will accept them. But we don’t need to go there. Our focus is on pleasing our Father in Heaven, and we should not be ashamed nor prideful about anything we do as believers. So, that’s why Yahushua says you can’t be ashamed of Him
and you can’t be ashamed of His words, otherwise, He will be ashamed of us, and we definitely don’t want that to happen, right?
Talking with the Pharisees, He says: “All their works they do to be seen by men – Matthew 23 verse 5. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. “They love the best places at the feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, “greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Messiah, and you all are brethren.” Think about that. It is pervasive today in Messianic circles
for the various congregational leaders to be called “Rabbi”. Now, I had a man ask me this week, he said – “Do you call yourself ‘Rabbi’ or what do I call you?” I said – “Just call me Brother Tom”. Because, I mean, which of the apostles ever called themselves “Rabbi”? – Not a single one. I mean, that should tell you right there that’s not what we’re supposed to do.
So, verse 9 say: “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven – speaking of a Spiritual Father here. “And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Messiah. “But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. “And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Get this right here. This right here-please-please-please, especially if you’re a new believer-get a hold of this scripture right here, and remember it. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled. I have seen it over and over and over and over-you even see it in sports. A man dances around like he’s something and all of a sudden something happens to him-he gets humbled. The same is true-those who humble themselves end up getting glorified in some way. So, He’s just informing us of the way it works. We are called to humility.
And-Pride goes before destruction, - Proverbs 16:18 - and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. So, pride goes before destruction-before destruction sometimes-most of the time, there’s some kind of prideful thing going on, and a haughty spirit going on before someone falls. So, Yahweh doesn’t like that stuff-He doesn’t, and He’s very sensitive to that because #1, well #1 is,
He’s Number One! And we need to get that. He’s Number One-NOT US. So, we don’t exalt ourselves against Him, we humble ourselves before Him.
Obadiah chapter 1 verse 3: The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; you who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’ Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” says Yahweh. It doesn’t matter where you think you are or how great you think you are; Yahweh can bring you down, right? And Yahweh has this habit of humbling the proud. Now it’s really for their benefit. It’s for the benefit of the one who is being prideful that they are brought down so that they can take a minute and take stock
of their life, and that they will look up and say – “Okay Yahweh-You’re the King-You’re the King-not me.” At the heart of the differences between the believer and the unbeliever-the unbeliever wants to rule himself-wants to be his own king-wants to live his own way-does not care about what others may say and think in terms of Yahweh coming down saying “You need to live a certain way” – they don’t like to hear that. They don’t like when preachers come and say “Here’s how you should live according to scriptures” – they don’t like that. They want to rule their own selves-they don’t want a King. They don’t want a ruler-they want to be autonomous and live in their own world; in their own universe. The believer says “I recognize I am not smart enough, wise enough, knowledgeable enough to direct my own life. I need someone greater than myself to direct my life.” And there is no one better to direct your life than the one who made you, and to follow his instruction manual for how we can manifest His holy image.
These six things Yahweh hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: - Number 1 right off the bat-A proud look, - He does not like a proud look. You don’t have to look very far on Facebook to find lots of people exhibiting prideful countenances; proud looks. One of the reasons I don’t really like the sunglasses-something about sunglasses, you know, makes someone-I don’t know-look like they’re “Mr. Cool” or “tough guy” or whatever it is. Now sunglasses are useful-I’m not against them, but there’s some persona that has to do with those. Same thing with
hates a proud look. He hates a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. Alright-it all starts with a proud look. And then out of pride comes sinful behavior-speaking lies-using your tongue for lies instead of truth-using your hands to shed innocent blood, rather than rescuing those who are hurting-using your heart to devise wicked plans, and using your feet to be swift in running to evil. So, one is not yielding their members of their body to be subjected to-in obedience to the way of love-the way of righteousness-the way of Yahweh. So, we see here the face is prideful, the tongue is lying, the hands are shedding innocent blood, the heart’s devising wicked plans, the feet are running to evil, and with all these things, they are speaking false witness, and they’re sowing discord among brethren.
cigarettes-cigarette smoking guys kind of think they look pretty cool-you know-smoking them cigarettes and all that. All about a proud look, and these are the things that Hollywood has glorified and taught our generations. Here’s how you be a “cool guy” everyone admires. You know, a “tough guy” – intimidating kind of person, and just full of pride, and Yahweh
Job 38, verse 1 – Job was a pretty righteous man-in fact, Yahweh bragged on him. But then all of a sudden, after
Job went through all these things; he really began to question why Yahweh would allow them to do all these things because he was so righteous. And so, Yahweh
appeared to him in a tornado-a whirlwind-answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you will answer Me. “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? Immediately humbling Job. Job was questioning about his circumstances - Why would you allow this to happen to me? Why is this going on? Why all these things? I’ve got boils on my skin-I don’t deserve these things. And since Job had questions, Yahweh began to ask him questions-By the way Job, where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Surely, you’ve got an idea what’s going on, right?
So, sometimes when we’re going through difficulties that we don’t understand, we have to trust that our Father in Heaven-He understands. And whatever He is allowing to take place in our lives, is ultimately gonna be for our benefit in the end. Because whatever happens to those who are called, it’ll all work out for our good-for our benefit. Yahweh knows what He’s doing. Our inability to even come close to His might and power-imagine and just think for a moment-one thing causes another thing to happen. Have you ever thought back in your life-if I didn’t do this this this, I wouldn’t have met so and so, and that wouldn’t have happened with so and so-I wouldn’t have gotten married-these children would’ve never happened, and my life would be completely different. See Yahweh has all that stuff worked out. If one of those things changed just a little bit, so many things would not take place. And Yahweh has all those things worked out, and He’s the author in what He allows and what He doesn’t allow. And so, we stand back, and if we’re not careful, we can be prideful and question our circumstances. See Yahweh knows the prayers of every person on the earth-everything going on, and we don’t. We don’t know what He’s doing-we have to be humble and just recognize, He knows how to handle things. And so, sometimes we’ll be in the midst of this trial and going through things, and you know, we have to really humble ourselves before Yahweh, because trials are opportunities really to justify Yahweh rather than ourselves. If we’re not careful, we’ll get caught up in this – “Oh bad things happen to me, and I didn’t do anything to deserve this”. Yeah right. Yahushua was sent to the world to be tortured and killed but you-you He wouldn’t want you to be unhappy for even one second, right? So, realize-even if you are righteous-doesn’t mean your life will be without suffering. Our Savior was perfect-His life was filled with suffering. So, if we’re believers, we know whatever tragedies take place, whatever negative things go on-are ultimately gonna work out for the good of all. The big picture is all fully known by our Father in Heaven. The day is going to come. Yahweh says:
The day is coming, burning like an oven, - and He says all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly – see the two are connected-the wicked do not want to be ruled- all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up, says Yahweh of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear – what? - My name – what is His name? – Yahweh - to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; - now the sun is also something hot and burning, right? And this sun-this hot and burning-whatever it is that destroys will arise with healing instead of destruction-and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. Talking about those who are well fed in the stalls, right?
Psalm 100, verse 3 says: Know that Yahweh, He is Elohim; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. See evolutionists say that we made ourselves. Evolutionists say – “Oh we made ourselves out of this “primordial soup”. Yahweh says
“No-I made you. You didn’t make yourself-get off your high horse-quit claiming your own greatness”. We are His people; we’re the sheep of His pasture-we did not evolve in some swampy pit. Living matter cannot come out of dead matter. I don’t care how long you stare at a rock, it’s not gonna turn into a monkey, a banana, or fruit tree or anybody; it’s dead. Life from above-life gives life-that’s the evidence we have in creation-life begets life. And life from Yahweh is what gave us life; we are created in His image, and so we want to give Him the honor due His name. He made us; not we ourselves. Cease from being wise in our own eyes, submit ourselves, fear Yahweh, depart from evil.
Proverbs 26:12: Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. Think about that for a minute. If you read Proverbs-one thing he keeps contrasting over and over is the hopeless condition of the fool. How the fool acts, how a righteous man acts, and he says one who is wise in their own eyes-there’s more hope for a fool than for him. Wow! Because even a fool can stop their foolishness; he can turn away from his foolishness, but someone who’s wise in their own eyes-they’re in worse condition because they don’t see the need to turn away from anything-they think they’ve already got it. They’re in worse condition than a fool.
Romans 12:16 says: Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Associate with the humble-I’ll tell you what-I’ve learned that the hard way. I found myself in a world of trouble because I thought maybe I could bring
a prideful man into a place of humility and bring him around-help him to see a better way, and they would act humble for awhile and turn around and, you know, their pride got the best of them. So, don’t be wise in your own conceit; associate with those who are humble. That way you’re not tempted and drawn into their ways. Just stay in a place of humility; keep that garment of humility on. A lot of the debates you see out there-things that nobody can prove one way or the other-they deteriorate into not so much what’s the truth, but then it goes into who has it-me or you. And if it gets into a competition of who’s right versus let’s stick together on what’s right, it all goes downhill from there. So, who was smart enough to figure all this out? This really becomes a topic of conversation sometimes. Discussion forums, debates, chatroom debates-it’s not about what’s the truth, it’s about “I’ve got it, you don’t- I’ll prove to you I have it”. It’s not bad to have a good talk about scripture and try to come together and share different viewpoints and confer together, but if we’re wise in our own conceit-we’re not willing to be challenged and humbled-the prideful one will think he won the argument, but all he did was out insult the other person. And they get into this argument of who will be the greatest. You know, or Who’s the Greatest? And Yahushua corrected His disciples because of that-the greatest one among you will be the servants-the ones who are blessing and building each other up-not those who are tearing everybody else down. So, Yahweh gets the glory because we don’t deserve it. We don’t deserve any revelation we have-any wisdom that we’ve gained. So, we exalt ourselves through that we’re definitely missing something. We don’t want to exalt ourselves in the wisdom He gives. Knowledge puffs up, love edifies. Now, a lot of times troubles comes because we choose to add something to Yahweh’s Word that doesn’t exist. And I’ve seen, you know, Bible discussions where people argue over things that nobody can prove from scripture, one way or the other. And they’re just arguing over who’s right and no one can really prove it.
Proverbs chapter 30 verse 5 says: Every word of Elohim is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. Danger, Danger, Danger! And this is a big mistake with most
religions-they add things. You know, I’m not against someone getting a revelation; an idea, but be careful. You know, our thoughts need to be on truth, and they’re some people that, you know, they make a statement, and the reason why they think it’s true is because they said it. It’s like – Oh because they said it therefore, it must be true. But our thoughts all the time need to be on Father-what is your will? I don’t want to add to, I don’t want to take away-what is your will for me? So, when our thoughts are all the time on ourselves, our own revelation, our own words-interpretation-me, me, me-and not on Yahweh, we’re actually more in danger of adding to the Word because our thoughts aren’t thinking-What is Yahweh-we’re thinking about – Oh what will other people think if I come up with this revelation, or in the case of some ministers-I’ll sell a lot of tapes on this one-you know. We’ve got to be careful about these things. We don’t seek truth so we can go around and boast about how we know something nobody else does. We seek truth so that we can align ourselves with Messiah Yahushua, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. So, that we can make changes to our conduct and align ourselves more perfectly with the example of the Messiah. And there are people out there who have both taken and added to from the scriptures.
When the take the name of our Heavenly Father out of the scripture, and they add a generic title-the Lord in its place, that’s adding to His Word, something He never put in there, and taking something away that He originally inspired. We have no business changing the Bible. Imagine that-the arrogance-the pompousness
of taking Yahweh’s name out of His own book! Crazy! That was the danger of the scribes and Pharisees-they were always debating about whether this was right, if that’s right-Elohim was not in their thoughts-it was like one was on one sports team, and one was on another, and who’s gonna win. So, the same thing with denominations today-it’s the same thing going on. So, we have to humble ourselves; put on humility, and say – “I just want to learn Your will Father because I don’t want to displease You-I want to glorify You in all that I do. I’m not here about me; I’m here to serve and bless You and glorify You.” We need to humble ourselves and realize that we don’t even deserve another day in this world, right? Ultimately-except it be through Yahushua the Messiah who restores us. And so,
even the book of James says: Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If Yahweh wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Even to say – “You know-today and tomorrow, we’re gonna go this city over here-spend the year there-buy and sell and make a profit.” To boast like that is actually forbidden; it’s a sin; it’s evil. Why? - You’re not recognizing who has your life in the palm of His hand. You don’t know if you’re gonna live another day-you don’t know if you’re gonna live another minute. Humble yourselves and say – “Well, if Yahweh willing, we’d like to go to such and such a city and spend the year there or we’re planning to go and do this”, and that way He gets the glory because, you know-we are His creation-you know. So, if I ever
start boasting, exalting myself, saying – “I’m gonna do this, this, that” and not recognize that unless Yahweh keeps me alive another day-unless Yahweh approves and wills for it to happen, I don’t wanna do it. To Him be the glory.
Isaiah 42 verse 8 says: I am Yahweh, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images. So, He does not want to give His glory to another. Yahweh is His name-I am Yahweh-that is My name. My glory I will not give to another-nobody else is deserving of His glory, right?
Colossians chapter 3, verse 23 says: Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to Yahweh and not to men, knowing that from Yahweh you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Master Messiah. So, whatever we are doing in our life, whatever we’re doing in our walk, we’re giving Yahweh the glory. Because He says, He will
not give His glory to another person.
So, we’re gonna give glory to Him, and focus on what He wants from us and not man pleasing. So, we’re not out for eye service-we’re out for doing Yahweh service. And so, we wanna be in the habit and the frame of mind-everything that we’re doing, we are doing for Yahweh. Whatever you do, it says-do it heartily as to Yahweh and not to men. When you get in this habit of living your life
seeking to please and you live your life in accordance with, and manifesting the image of our Father in Heaven-when sin comes knocking on the door, you’re so accustomed to doing everything you’re supposed to do for Yahweh that you’re gonna be a whole lot less likely to even consider-you’re gonna be saying – “No, I’m working for the King-the Elohim of all the earth-Yahweh. I would not do that-my King would not be pleased with me.” We become aware of His presence when we’re focused on doing things daily to glorify Him rather than doing things to serve ourselves; trying to make our own life better of make our own standing better. The goal ultimately is to glorify Him. Look at David. David was a young man ready to face a giant. First Samuel
17:45 says: Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you – what? - in the name of Yahweh of hosts, the Mighty One of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. He boasted in Yahweh. Everyone else was looking at the flesh; at the size of that man-how big he is-how can anyone beat him up in battle? David saw beyond the flesh and David, though he was small in the eyes of the people around him, Yahweh showed forth His power in David’s weakness. And He wants to do that-though we are weak, His strength can be perfected in our weaknesses. And so many times
Yahweh would take someone who is small in the eyes of men and do amazing awesome things with them. Think about some of the people in scripture-had humble beginnings. Yahushua was born in a stall of farm animals. Hannah made a humble prayer to Yahweh and out came out from her body-Samuel. The humble beginnings of Saul the King hiding among the equipment. The humble beginnings of King David, a young shepherd boy. Even Moses-
Moses, it says, was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth. Moses was the most humble man on the face of the earth. Wow! Pretty amazing! See Moses knew Yahweh could-wipe me like a dish, if I get in the way of His glory - He could just wipe me out like a dish. The same is true for any of us as believers-we need to remain humble-we need to be willing to be used by Yahweh. Meekness and humility have to be on the agenda.
We need to remain small in our own sight and not exalt ourselves. If you hear, and you share the Word of Yahweh, remember to give Him the glory.
Acts 12:21: On a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of an elohim and not of a man!” Then immediately an angel of the Yahweh struck him, because he did not give glory to Elohim. And he was eaten by worms and died. But the world of Elohim grew and multiplied. So, Herod gave his oration, which is a speech and the people thought - “Oh the voice of a god and not a man”, exalting him. He didn’t give glory to Elohim and immediately, he was struck and ultimately became eaten by worms. But Yahweh’s Word grew and was multiplied.
Micah 6, verse 8 says: He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does Yahweh require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your Mighty One? Very interesting. Three basic things-walk in righteousness-doing justice, love mercy-if we love mercy, we’re going to seek out that mercy that Yahweh promises us through Yahushua the Messiah, and we’re going to give that mercy to other people. And then walk humbly with our Mighty One. The whole Bible right there-it actually sums up what Yahweh requires of us.
Isaiah 66, verses 1-2: Thus says Yahweh: “Heaven is My throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And were is the place of My rest? For all these things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” “But on this one I will look: on him who is poor and of contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.” Do we do that? Do we tremble at His word? It means we hear His word and we’re thinking about ourselves, or our failures or our weaknesses, our own struggles, and recognize that Yahweh’s Word is amazing, and we need to straighten up. Or we’re looking at it and say – “Well, yeah, that really applies to my friend down the road here, or this guy at church or this lady at church, or my pastor or whatever. And we’re all thinking about the Word, and how it applies to other people, rather than looking at the Word, and looking for things that will convict our hearts, so that we can align our behavior to better manifest the example of our Savior. So, the works of the flesh are pride and arrogance. The fruits of the Spirit-humility and the fear of Elohim.
Second Corinthians chapter 10, verse 12 says: For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves – it means talk highly of themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. This is a profound scripture; very profound because it’s a very pervasive problem-we look to men to be our reference point rather than the example of Yahushua the Messiah. We might say – “Well, I can do this because I know so and so-he does this, and since he’s a righteous man, therefore, it must be correct.” We don’t do that-we don’t compare ourselves with ourselves-we compare ourselves with Yahushua the Messiah. If we take our eyes off Him and put our eyes on man, we’re gonna have a hard time because man doesn’t always manifest the right and perfect example. Now, I’m not saying that when you see a good example of someone in your life-someone who’s very Messiah-like and saying – “Yeah, I need to emulate that-it’s good for me to see that living example right here in front of me”. We can get caught up in this thing where, you know, I belong to this group or this group, you know, that’s what we do, and so, that’s what we do because that’s what we all do-so we decide the kind of lifestyle we’re gonna live. Rather than okay-regardless of what my friends and family and whoever it is, co-workers-no matter what they think-if the Word is telling me to do this, I need to do this. It reminds me of a story-I used to work in a heating and air conditioning trade as a service technician. It seemed like every company had its “main guy” – he was the best technician of all of them. And one day I had to leave the company because I wasn’t getting enough hours of work. And the “main guy” says - “Well, here’s what you do-you go find yourself a company where you’re like the best guy on the rosters, see. Then you get paid well, and everybody will like you.” And that’s really what he was doing, he’s no different. People actually join churches – “I feel like I belong here because I’m actually more spiritually mature than most people here.” And so, they don’t challenge themselves, and they don’t want to be around people who, you know, make them feel challenged. And so, pride, arrogance, rather than humility are operating there. Another way that pride can manifest itself is through anger. If you’re angry at another person because of some wrong they’ve done to someone or to you-we have to be mindful of the fact that we also have done wrong things in our life. Do we really deserve to be so angry at another person for the thing they’re doing wrong, when really, we ourselves have been guilty of doing the same thing? Pridefulness-sometimes it just finds its way into our hearts and hits the spot in the wrong place. And so, we have to be willing to say – “Okay, this person committed a sin; they hurt me with this, but the truth is-you know what? - I’ve done that too-there have been times I’ve don’t that to other people.” And just be understanding. Just because someone sins differently than you, doesn’t mean you’re better than them. You’re struggling with one thing, and you’re trying to overcome it, and the other person over there-they got a different thing they’re working on, and you look down at them because you don’t do what they do. “Oh, they do this, they do that, they do that, they do this.” And you don’t think about-well wait a minute-you do this, this, this, this, this. And so, you’re angry at them because they’re doing this sin, and they’re just sinning differently, that’s all. So, don’t let pride enter in and walk over there and
stir up the strife between you and that person. An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in transgression. A man’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor. Let’s walk out humility.
He who exalts himself will be humbled. He who humbles himself, in due time, will be exalted. Let’s focus not on how much we know-let’s focus on our Savior Yahushua and walking out His example
because-If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves Elohim, this one is known by Him. And so, in all of our pursuit of wisdom-and we should pursue wisdom-the purpose of gaining the wisdom is so that we can better manifest the image of our Savior, Yahushua the Messiah and draw all men to Him. Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father Yahweh-thank you for your love. We are not worthy of the least of the mercies and truth that You have shown us as Your servants. Yet it seemed good in Your eyes to call us out of darkness-the deep and miry pit from which we all dug for ourselves and lift us up out of the pit and set us on high in due time, seat us next our Savior Yahushua reigning on the throne. We long for the day when we will spend eternity with You, Oh great and awesome Mighty One. Who is like You-Master of the Universe, Creator of all that is good-calling those who are not loving You to walk in love, and even sending Your own son Yahushua the Messiah to die that we might be redeemed. Oh, we praise You. Father, any area where pride may be manifesting itself in our hearts, in our lives-reveal it to us-we want to put on the garments of humility. Even as Yahushua the Messiah said “I am meek and lowly of heart-come and learn from Me-you’ll find rest for your souls”- so we seek that meekness and that humility that You, Father, may be glorified and not us. For truly Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, and the majesty forever and ever. In Yahushua’s great name we pray. Amein and hallelujah!
